Sala Karnparien or the hall for sermons is used for religious rites such as hearing the sermon and making a merit. It is sometimes used as a classroom for monks to study Dhamma.
Assumingly, this hall was built in Ayudhya period as the main chapel of Wat Phodharam and was later restored in the reign of King Rama III. The principal Buddha image of Wat Phodharam named “Phra Buddha Sassada” was once enshrined here. There was also a mural painting about hells and twelve demons.
