Buddhists join in the light waving rite on “Atthamee Puja” day

     On the eight day of the seventh waning moon falling on June 9, 2015, the clergy of Wat Phra Chetuphon conjointly arranged the activities on “Atthamee Puja” day, the eight day after Buddha's commemorative cremation.

     Besides the daily sermon, in the evening the activities were including the light waving rite around The hall of a temple and a special sermon which crowdedly joined by numerous monks and Buddhists who perform deeds and inherit traditions in continuing Buddhism prospering.

The sermon of “Catechism” (questions and answers) in celebrating the event during the International Buddhism Promotion Day of Vesak Week

      Phra Maha Prachern Ponyawuto the Deputy Abbot of Wat Pho and Maha Boonrung SiriChote from Wat Arun Ratchawararam demonstated the Catechism in two pulpits on the unforgettable “Atthamee Puja” day, the day of Buddha's commemorative cremation during the event of the International Buddhism Promotion Day of Vesak Week at Sanam Luang, the royal cremation ground, Bangkok.

The Executives from Utah University visted Wat Pho

    

     In the afternoon on June 8th, 2015, The Chairman, the Executives and the Faculties from Utah State University, the United States of America visited Wat Pho. In this regard, Phra Suthithammanuwat, the Deputy Abbot, was kindly presenting the knowledge according to the history and background information of Wat Pho, one of the most important Royal Monastery of Thailand.

 

The Conservation of Contorted Hermit Statue Meeting

    

     On June 4th, 2515 at the meeting room of Wat Pho, Pha Udorn Kanarak and Phra Maha Udom Ponyapho were assigned from Phra Thep Veeraporn, The abbot of Wat Pho to attend the meeting with Mr.Prasart Trattarntip, the Deputy Director of Department of Thai Traditional and Complementary Medicine along with the related officers to confer the guideline in conservation of the 80 posing statues of Contorted Hermit

      The images are compiled from the celebrating event occurred during the International Buddhism Promotion Day of Vesakha Week, recognized as the important memorial day in Buddhism and as“World Heritage Day”, at Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklaramrm on June 1st, 2015. The activities were including the open ceremony, the sermon by Phra Thep Veeraporn, the group competition in “Sorrapanya” intoning, the demonstration on “How to lay set of altar tables”, the award-presenting ceremony to the students who won the competition of the intoning, the light waving rite around the royal monastery, and the sermon by Phra Suthithammanuwat
